오늘은 필리핀 날씨와 회사동료 조문한 얘기와 한국은 출산율이 낮음을 얘기하였다.

Today I heard that my coworker's father died and I will have to visit the wake after work.

In the wake we meet the bereaved family, offer flowers and give some money for donations.

I was 34 when I had my first born.

I was 32 when I got married. We waited for 2 years before I had my first born.

already it's been almost a week that it's raining because today now is a rainy season but the rainy season is accompanied by storms.

When you say 35, it's still okay. What is very hot is when you reach 40, 45, and 50

When 55 degrees, so it's really very hot. When you say hot, it's really hot. And what you're experiencing, it's still not hot here. It's just okay.

You can use your air conditioners. Maybe lots of homes in Korea, very very few, do not use air conditioners. Right? Here in the Philippines, if you use air conditioner, you must have a high income. Because electricity is very very expensive.

or maybe half of your salary could cost the electric bill, okay? So, we are very unlucky because we are one of the country all over the world who has very high electricity. Yes

the government gives subsidies so people can still get still avail of the high of the electricity even if you have lots of electric appliances with you. But now this government, they cut the subsidy.

Fan, it's still hot. The air is still hot. If it is really really on that high degree centigrade electric fan, it's also hot. The air that comes in the out of the electric fan is too hot. So maybe your body condition just uh just uh complement the temperature. But in Korea, you have a cold weather generally. There are parts in Korea also that is snowy, freezing, right? How much in your place is there freezing sometimes?

It's exciting to experience the snow, playing in the snow, but most of my friends living in different side of the world, they still want sunny. They don't want snowy because it's so hard, they say, it's so hard to go out with the streets covered all over with snow. It's very slippery, and most of the time, they stay at home because it's dangerous. They say, they told me that, okay, so it's not really fun having snow. And it's so hard to, you know that, to clean the eyes.

Be satisfied with what they have.

But those people who have snowy season, they don't like it. They want to go to countries like ours who has, they said, sunny season is better because they can go around. They can move around, travel a lot with no hazards or things. Yes, yes, yes. Anyway. All right.

You can already visit the wake. Oh, yes. Today, I will visit. Oh, really? It's quite fast. You know, here in the Philippines, maybe a member of the family dies, and the funeral parlor will still have a schedule.

Today I heard that my co-worker's father died and I will have to visit the lake after work. After work, are you going to go there with your co-workers too, or are you alone? With my co-worker too.

What is the tradition? If a friend or a co-worker or an acquaintance goes to the wake, what do you do there? Do we have...

offer the flower for the deceased member, all right, and then after that, do you still share or donate anything to the family? We donate some money to each other. So it depends on how much you can donate, no certain amount, no required amount.

...heard that, it seems that we have the same tradition, we express our sympathy, condolences to the family, and then after which, we could also offer flowers if out of your, it's out of you, it depends on you, what you want to offer, you can give flowers, or if you're in the company, you bring the flowers there to the way with your coworkers, or after that also, each one who wants to donate still to the family can do that.

What about if you don't have anything to donate? Is it okay?

You can just attend the wake and express your condolences, even if you cannot donate money. And same here in the Philippines, we do that. Sometimes here in the Philippines, in the wake, there are foods offered to the visitors. Do you do that too?

Same tradition, we do that, the family offer food, or maybe pika-pika, something, you know what's pika-pika? Pika-pika are like foods that you can just pick. Ah, small snack. We call it pika-pika. Maybe peanuts, or even coffee, we offer them coffee, or anything, drinks. Not necessarily dinner, but there are families even offer caterers for food for the visitors.

Or coffee, or pika-pika, pika-pika foods. So, we have, oh, very, very interesting because we almost have the same tradition when there is someone dead in the family or someone passed away in the family. Okay, so, is the parent old or still young?

The father is 76 years old. In Korea, 80 years old people are almost healthy. Almost? Almost people... Pass? They pass away? No, no, no. Health, health, day, day health. Healthy! Healthy, yeah. Right! Yeah, yeah. Very fascinating. It means that Koreans keep on eating healthy foods. Ah, yeah.

In Japan and what country? I think it's China. Okay. There is also a problem with old generation because they do not want to have many children in the family. That is why they are already having less population, more of the seniors, less of the young ones. So it is also a problem.

Yes, so that is a problem because old people needs to be needs to be What do you call take it carried off when they become when they become a week weaker? and You know children. They are the hope of the country Children is the hope of the country and therefore Therefore that's my daughter She just came Came home because she has she said she has no work to yes tomorrow. So she came home after lunch Okay, so as I was saying It is also a problem with the country that has more senior citizens than Younger ones, you know, because younger ones can contribute more a lot more work to the country than seniors. Seniors are Needs to be taken care of already. So in Korea, I think Most of the younger generation doesn't want to have children

wanting to get married, but they don't want children. So I was really disappointed because the essence of having a family is to have children. But my younger students, they say they still want travel, they still want freedom, they don't want responsibility. So I think that is the Western culture. It is the influence of the Western culture.

that it's different if you have children and if you are already older it's so hard it's so hard to conceive okay like me as I told you I already got pregnant when I was 40

Because it's hard, very hard to conceive when you are in the age like me. So when you become 30, 35, 40, it's difficult. You're already at a high risk. How about you? How old were you when you had your firstborn?

Firstborn. So that's the right sentence. Okay, 34. Did you know that I got married at 34? And it took me 6 1⁄2 years before I got pregnant. 6 1⁄2 long years. So you could just imagine every month of that 6 long years, I cried because every month I expect to have one, but it doesn't come. So, very frustrating.

32 years old. 32? 32? Okay. Most of my students are that age and they still are not married. Yeah, and one of my students said she's getting married plans are two to three years from now. She's 34. Yeah, so I told her it's quite late, 34, but if it's your destiny to marry at the age of 36, 37, then you need to pray hard because it's hard to conceive. You are already at a high risk. Haha, so you still waited for two years, eh?

...into when I got married. Okay, so that is what you said. And then, I, not you, both of you, so you say we, you and your husband waited. It's not only you, of course, your husband waited. We waited for two, two years before I had my firstborn. So how old is your firstborn now?

Along the years that will pass, maybe what he has on mind today will be different. As the baby grows and you will see the need, you will long for another one.

want your child to have a playmate, at the same time, a sibling, that both of them could go along and protect themselves. Protect each other. That will be maybe one or two years from now, your husband will realize that he still needs one. And also it depends if it will be given to you. If you believe in God, it will happen.
