이번수업은 알버트와 마지막날이다.

알버트와 한달정도 짧은 시간이었지만, 기초문법을 다시 배울 수 있는 기회였다.

 

 

Superlative Adjectives (최상급형용사)

 

1) What are superlative adjectives?

• Superlative adjectives are words used to compare the difference between 3 or more things.

 

2) Making superlative adjectives.

To make a superlative adjective word you must change the adjective to the superlative form.

Superlative Adjectives Rules

---

1. With regular one syllable adjectives, we add -est to make the superlative form.

• fast - faster - fastest

 

2. With regular one and two syllable adjectives that end in y, we remove the y and add -iest to make the superlative form.

• happy - happier - happiest

 

3. With adjectives that end with a single vowel followed by a single consonant, the consonant is doubled and -est is added.

• big - bigger - biggest

 

4. With two syllable adjectives that don't end in -y, and all three syllable adjectives we add the most before the adjectve.

• beautiful - more beautiful - the most beautiful

 

5. Irregular adjectives don't follow these rules. So, you must memorize them.

• good - better - best
• bad - worse - worst
• far - futher - furthest
• well - better - best
• much - more - most
• many - more - most

 

 

※ 최상급 형용사를 사용할 떄 주의해야 할 주요 사항은 다음과 같습니다.

✅  1. the를 함께 사용
대부분의 최상급 형용사는 the + 형용사 최상급 형태로 씁니다.
예: He is the tallest in the class.

 

✅  2. 형용사에 -est 또는 most를 붙이는 규칙

• 짧은 형용사(1음절): -est 붙임 (big → biggest)
• 긴 형용사(2음절 이상): most + 형용사 (beautiful → the most beautiful)

 

✅  3. 철자 변화 규칙

• e로 끝나면 t만 추가 (large → largest)
• 자음+모음+자음으로 끝나면 마지막 자음 두 번 (big → biggest)
• y로 끝나면 i로 바꾸고 est (happy → happiest)

 

✅  4. 비교 대상 명확히 하기
최상급은 보통 in + 범위 또는 of + 집단과 함께 사용합니다.
예: She is the smartest in the group.

 

✅  5.예외적인 불규칙 변화

• good → best
• bad → worst
• far → farthest / furthest
