이번수업은 알버트와 마지막날이다.

알버트와 한달정도 짧은 시간이었지만, 기초문법을 다시 배울 수 있는 기회였다.

 

 

Comparative Adjectives (비교급형용사)

 

1) What are Comparative Adjectives?

• Comparative adjectives are words used to compare the difference between 2 things.

 

2) Making comparative words

To make a comprarative word you must change the adjective to the comparative form.

Smll → Smaller

 

 

Comparative Adjectives Rules

---

1. with reular one syllable adjective, we add -er to make the comprative form.

• fast → faster

 

2. with regular one and two syllable adjective that end in y, we remove the y and add -ier to make the comparative form.

• happy → happier

 

3. with adjectives that end with a single vowel followed by a single consonant, the consonant is double and -er is added.

• big → bigger

 

4. with two syllabe adjectives that don't end in-y, and all three syllable adjectives we add more before the adjective.

• beautiful → more beautiful

 

5. Irregular adjectives don't follew these rules. So, you must memorize them

• good → better
• bad → worse
• far → further
• well → further
• much → more
• many → more

 

★ DO NOT 

• More bigger (X)

 

 

※비교급 형용사를 사용할 때 주의해야 할 주요 사항은 다음과 같습니다

✅ 1. 형용사에 -er 붙이는 규칙

• 짧은 형용사(1음절): tall → taller, small → smaller
• -e로 끝나는 경우: nice → nicer
• 자음 + y로 끝나는 경우: happy → happier
• 마지막 자음 반복: big → bigger, hot → hotter

 

✅ 2. than과 함께 사용

• 비교 대상이 반드시 than 뒤에 와야 함
  예) She is taller than me.

 

✅ 3. longer adjectives (2음절 이상) → more + adjective

• 예) beautiful → more beautiful
  (단, happy → happier처럼 일부 2음절 형용사는 -er 가능)

 

✅ 4. 불규칙 비교급 주의

• good → better, bad → worse, far → farther/further

 

✅ 5. 비교 대상의 일관성

• 같은 기준으로 비교해야 함
  잘못된 예) She is taller than any boy in her class.
  (모든 소년 중 하나보다 키가 크다는 이상한 의미)
  → She is taller than all the boys in her class.

 

✅ 6. much, a little, far 등 강조 가능

• 예) much bigger, a little taller
